2. Nigeria
Situated in tropical West Africa, the oil rich state of Nigeria is the regional superpower, but despite its abundant natural resources it remains one of the world's poorest countries with a per capita GDP of just US$300 per annum.
The country is made up of over 250 tribes, and this explosive mix together with tensions between the Muslim population and the Christians, who make up the majority in the oil producing south of the country, have contributed to Nigeria's potential being untapped. Decades of civil war, famine, military dictators and rampant corruption have left the country with deep divisions that will take many years to ease. Despite recent democratic elections (April 2003) there remains a real risk of renewed civil war.
The capital city is Abuja, but the largest economic centre and chief port is Lagos, located on the Bight of Benin in southwestern Nigeria. Lagos was formerly the capital but this was moved to Abuja in the heart of the country in 1991, largely in a bid to curb the frenetic migration to Lagos not only from rural Nigeria, but neighboring countries as well. This sprawling overcrowded industrial metropolis is already home to more than 14 million people.
With 500 miles (805km) of coastline Nigeria has all the raw ingredients to make for a top tourist destination, and the new government has pledged to improve infrastructure and attract investment to tap the country's tourism potential. Meanwhile, this varied land of sandy beaches, lagoons, tracts of tropical forest, magnificent waterfalls and fascinating historic sites is being enjoyed by only the most adventurous travellers.
The vast majority of visitors to Nigeria come for business and the regular flights from Europe and North America have remained packed with oil executives looking for their slice of Africa's largest oil producer.
National Parks are special natural ecosystems with unique attributes. They play special tangible and intangible roles vital to national/regional well-being as well as act as a catalyst for the development of eco-tourism. National parks also enhance ecological processes and life support systems such as soil regeneration, protection of nutrient cycles, cleansing and purifying hydrological cycles etc. Indeed the overwhelming roles National Parks play in ecological protection, enhance agriculture and medicine in a country like Nigeria far outweigh all other benefits. Today there are eight National Parks in Nigeria.
Besides the many natural features of Nigeria, the cultural assets of the nation are of universal recognition. The richness and diversity of the Nigerian culture is a manifestation of the socio-cultural differences of the over 250 ethnic groups that inhabit the land for ages. These, couple with hospitality of the over 110 million people, make Nigeria one of the richly endowed potential tourist destinations in the globe.

Ghana's national parks and game reserves offer opportunities for rewarding game viewing safaris. Among the most popular parks include Mole National Park in northern Ghana (the largest and most popular) and Kakum National Park in the southern part of the country. The national parks are home to an incredibly huge population of birds and butterflies – making Ghana a premier birding destination.
The best time for Ghana travel and vacations is usually December to April when there are no rains. However this is also the hottest time of year and quite uncomfortable in the north of the country since the temperatures may rise to 35°C and higher thanks to the rasping Harmattan winds blowing from the Sahara. July and August are best months to travel to Ghana if you're planning to stay in the south since there is a lull in the rains during this period.

Overview
Magically placed in the heart of the Indian Ocean between India and the East African coast, the Seychelles is one of the leading holiday destinations in Africa. The archipelago is made up of 115 islands spread across an area of more than 400,000 sq km.
Mahe is the largest island and is dominated by a mountain range that forms the backbone of the island. Morne Seychellois, the highest summit is 905m tall and offers a good backdrop to Victoria, the capital city of Mahe.
The second largest island, Praslin is famous for white sandy beaches, especially Anse Lazio --which has consistently been voted one of the world's best beaches. Praslin beaches offer excellent snorkelling and are safe for bathing. The island is a perfect jumping off to explore other islands such as La Digue, St. Pierre, Cousin and Curieuse.
Seychelles enjoys tropical climate and is therefore an all year round destination, although the best months are April and October. November to March experiences short rains, but the season is also good for Seychelles holidays as the seas are calm and its hot and humid.
